Update from November 2021
We are back up and running! – we started again in August 2021 and still meet on the first Friday every month at the same venue. We have had some changes in membership since our break over the pandemic – some people sadly died and others have moved into residential care and the home’s COVID regulations don’t allow them to come.
When we restarted we had a review of ideas to work on and agreed to do a piece of work with local café’s supporting them to be more accessible. We wrote a letter together Letter Group and this was distributed and then picked up (both face to face).
We have about 5 places who want to meet with us so we have designed a leaflet see following link 10144a DEEP – Be Dementia Aware A4 Flyer V2 to aid our discussion which we are planning to leave with them after our visit We are waiting for dates from the cafes and we will give the cafes a sticker to put in the window after they have had our session
Alongside this we have been doing our usual giving advice to our NHS teams when they ask and feeding back any experience’s positive and negative.

News from May 2019
Carlisle DEEP group has now met three times, this has given us the opportunity as a group to choose a logo, name ‘Carlisle Forget Me Nots’, regular meeting venue and recurring meeting dates. We also (with the help from our lovely student occupational therapy student) set up a twitter account @CARforgetmenots.
Among lots of friendly, supportive chats in the first two meetings we discussed our experiences of local NHS memory services: What was good? What was not so good? What was missing?
This inspired us to use our third meeting to turn these experiences into action plans to influence future service development. We’ve split into three sub groups, which reflect our interests, all with creative ideas including developing a leaflet and training package.
The quote of the afternoon came from Eileen …..“you’re one of the gang now”.
Exciting times ahead in Carlisle.
