We are a group of people affected by dementia (people living with dementia, care partners and former care partners). We meet with academics from the University of Salford to discuss research about dementia. We also have an input into teaching at the University.
Salford Institute for Dementia also runs several other community engagement groups for people living with dementia and their care partners.
We have a dementia café called Sid’s Café. This is great opportunity for people to meet other individuals affected by dementia in their local area and to try some new activities. We also try and have some professionals at these events (such as the police, solicitors, health care professionals) to offer information and advice.
We have a gardening group called The Good Life Club. At this group people living with dementia maintain the little garden that we have at the Hub and do other activities such as photography.
