An appeal for opportunities and ideas to increase recruitment for the Pathfinders group in Swale.

Dear colleagues,

We are members of the ‘Pathfinders’ group, based in Swale, Kent. Our group is made up of people living with a diagnosis of dementia and staff from the local Community Service for Older People.

We meet regularly and have created a number of initiatives to make Swale more dementia-friendly, including recording podcasts, co-facilitating the local NHS workshops for people recently diagnosed with a dementia, talking at training events for healthcare professionals and advising the local NHS Trust on their construction of care plans.

We are writing to you however as, despite our best efforts, we struggle to recruit new members to our group.  We primarily aim to do this through the post-diagnostic group mentioned above, but it does not seem to be effective. We wondered if you have any advice or resources on how to increase membership?

Whilst recruitment is our main struggle, we remain an enthusiastic and committed group. If you have any opportunities through the DEEP network by which we might increase our presence (presenting at conferences/trainings etc), we would be very grateful for any chance to further our cause.

With our best wishes,

The Pathfinders, Swale
