What does DEEP mean to you? A reply from Julie and Phil Sea DEEP in Eastbourne

Chris Maddocks, from Sea DEEP in Eastbourne, wrote to us:

“I just want to share with you an email I received from Julie and Phil from our Sea DEEP Eastbourne group. I asked them what DEEP meant to them and below is their reply. I think what they have said is powerful and moving.”

From Julie and Phil:

“Firstly, we have been reading some of the Dementia Diaries www.dementiadiaries.org , as you recommended, and have found them very interesting and moving. There is so much available online it is hard to pick and choose what to read but we will keep an eye on this.

We’ve been thinking about DEEP.

We think of DEEP as a haven of:-

warmth, friendship, companionship and humour,

positivity, reassurance and true understanding,

inclusivity and non-judgement ,

information, support and connections!

It is an active force for improving awareness, understanding and support for people living with dementia.

It offers a unique platform for people living with early dementia to have a voice in what would help them to live an active and fulfilling life in the early stages and to facilitate that.

It recognises that one size does not fit all and people need to be treated as individuals, who still have a lot to offer and live for.

In short, it helps to keep us going!

Take care,

Julie and Phil”
