Reading and forgetting by Marie Leahy – as featured in The Bookseller

Marie Leahy from the University of Reading lets us know how she is getting on with her work into reading with memory issues. Marie writes:

“Last month I wrote a brief piece for ‘The Bookseller’ to let publishers know about the work I am doing. It appeared online on 17th June and I am attaching a copy I made from their website. The image was their choice, but I thought it was rather a good one.

In the piece I mention DEEP and I refer to a Zoom conversation I had with Teresa Davies. I wanted to convey to publishers – many of whom are quite young – that individuals who have early-stage dementia may be happy to engage with others online.

I would like to pass on to DEEP the £150 that The Bookseller will be paying me ”

DEEP thanks to Marie and we have suggested she donates the money directly to LikeMinded Mold, which is the DEEP group run by Teresa Davies.
