Latest news from Beth Johnson Peer Support Group

Betty Machin writes:

“The Beth Johnson Foundation peer support group continue to meet via Zoom every Friday. We have welcomed another new member Keith. We have had tried to vary the meetings for example having various themes during the Zoom meetings including dressing up for Black Friday in scary outfits, themes around who could wear the silliest hats.

We have carried on working on out Dementia Enquiries project with our question “does class, ethnicity or intellect” have a bearing on the dementia pathway. This work started in January involving interviews filming and lots of discussions. Work as continued via Zoom meetings, telephone calls and sending for information via post to members unable to Zoom. We have all decided we feel we have compiled enough material and this has been given to the Researcher who has agreed to look at the material given and agree with members on what format to produce the report. We have also heard the fantastic news that partnership work with Dr Jane Rowley group of younger people with mental health she facilitates and our peer support group is going ahead. We did envisage working physically together to exchange life stories but due to COVID-19 we will be working together via virtual methods. Exciting times ahead for our group” November 2020
