“The Greater Manchester Mayoral elections will be taking place in May 2020 – and Alzheimer’s Society wants to make sure that dementia is top of the political agenda.
That’s why we’re inviting you to join us at an event to look at the progress that has been made in creating a more dementia friendly Greater Manchester over the last few years and to discuss what the Mayor’s priorities for people living with dementia should be from 2020 onwards.
The current Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, will join us to talk about what he’s done over the last three years to improve the lives of people living with dementia and his ambitions for this work going forward.
We will hear from Greater Manchester residents living with dementia about their experiences, the issues they face and what they’d like to see change in the future
Representatives will talk about Alzheimer’s Society’s new Dementia Connect service which they are currently rolling out.
In the second part of the event we will ask you for your thoughts, ideas and by talking together in groups we will compile a list of commitments that you want your Greater Manchester Mayoral candidates to agree to include in their manifestos.
We will provide lunch and refreshments.
