We really enjoyed catching up with some of you at our Christmas meeting – that seems so long ago now though!

Launch of our first projects
We have now published the findings of seven projects from the first round. You can find them all here. We’d love to have your feedback.
You will also notice that Dementia Enquirers now has its own upgraded website, which we hope is more accessible and attractive. You can find all our resources here.
Final round of grants
We are delighted to have announced the final round of grants for small research projects led by groups in the DEEP Network (deadline 25th June).
Our Pioneers will be working hard in July to assess the applications we receive against our DEEP-Ethics Gold Standards
The projects will last for up to a year
Recent events
George Rook recently presented a webinar with Philly for the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR). The theme was “What happens when people with dementia are in the driving seat of research?” You can watch the full presentation here (it’s a full hour though J)
In January, Wendy Mitchell and Philly also presented at ‘Engaging People Living with Young Onset Dementia in Research’. This was part of the DEFIN-YD Project, which is a Wellcome Trust Public Engagement Project.
We have been using this film for presentations – do watch it if you haven’t already done so.
Prof Tom Shakespeare has been working with the Pioneers to co-author a paper for ‘Disability and Society’. We are delighted that this has been accepted and will be published soon.
Ethics issues
We are delighted that Dawn Brooker has arranged to showcase the DEEP-Ethics Gold Standards on the University-wide Research Ethics site, so it is available to all researchers at the University of Worcester. She is also taking it to the next University Ethics Committee meeting for a discussion, and ideas of how it could be disseminated more widely.
We also got a lovely message from Katie Zwerger, a PhD student at Birmingham University, who says she is incorporating the DEEP-Ethics Gold Standards into her own project.
New partnerships with Universities
Thanks to all who responded to our call for ideas for partnerships. The Pioneers have selected three which they feel particularly drawn to. Watch this space!
