Inspired by the success of other dementia involvement groups, we formed Clear Voices in 2013 as one of our core groups when we founded The Tibbs Dementia Foundation. This is because we place people with dementia at the heart of all that we do.
The group is open to anyone with dementia – aiming to provide a safe space where all can share their experiences. Clear Voices provides friendship and support in a social group, where we can talk about anything we want to.
In the past, we have been actively involved with DEEP – taking part in a dementia friendly refurbishment of our local hospital, lobbying our local MP and taking part in Dementia Diaries as a group.
During the pandemic we moved our group to Zoom, where we continue to meet weekly, Tibbs Dementia is very good at being flexible. We have realised there are advantages, as well as disadvantages to being online and we hope in time to be able to restart our face to face groups too.
